DUMAS, Texas — The North Region Multi-County Beef Conference will be held Jan. 26 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service at the Moore County Community Building, 1600 S. Maddox Ave., Dumas.

This is a collaborative program involving the AgriLife Extension offices in Moore, Dallam, Hartley, Oldham, Potter and Sherman counties.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The event is free, including lunch, with sponsorship from Frische Brothers Fertilizer and Ag Texas.

“We’ve joined together to bring in speakers who will address a number of key issues facing the beef-producing industry up in this region of the Panhandle,” said Marcel Fischbacher, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Moore County.

— What Steps Can a Rancher Take to Have a Lower Input Cost Cow? – Jason Smith, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist, Amarillo.

— What Costs Should the Cow-Calf Producer Cut and Which Should Not Be Cut? – Smith.

— How Can Cattle Increase Regenerative Soil Properties? – Jourdan Bell, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension agronomist, Amarillo.

— What Forages Should a Cattleman/Farmer Plant to Get the Most Return on the Least Investment? – Bell.

— What I Learned About Grazing from a Sheep – Clint Hoelting, rancher, Dalhart.

— Bull Purchasing and Understanding Expected Progeny Differences, or EPDs– Fischbacher.
